Statement of intent-493 words

NARRITIVE : I plan to make a 2 minute music video featuring the song song used: Pretty distraction by Sky dxddy about woman harassment this soundtrack will fit the negative overall mood. My female characters will all be in a eerie atmosphere. This video will highlight the situations women face and how and what we can do to change this within the community and the world.

MEDIA LANGUAGE:

The start of the video will involve close up shots of a female character having experienced the abuse of harassment this will show her body language and clearly shows how she feels. Then in the middle of the video there will be a long shot with the female character actually being harassed this long shot will show what happens to women on a daily basics. The final scene will show a middle shot of other women supporting each other and trying to make a difference. In the final seconds the scene will have a slogan "We will not be silent" With multiple woman holding hands in a far shot trying to communicate through their Body language rather than words to subvert stereotypes and show women as powerful.

MEDIA REPRENTATIONS :

The characters are going to represent the different aspects of the harmful  harassment behaviour, such as the aggressor, the victim, the bystander, and the heroes with the perpetrator embodying the hostile actions and the victim experiencing the negative effects like intimidation or emotional distress.. The character representing the aggressor is shown performing acts like unwelcome comments, physical intimidation, or spreading rumours, while the victim character experiences the consequences, such as public shaming or fear. Other characters can represent bystanders or those who enable the harassment by not intervening While the heroes are the ones who protect the victim and help them. This represents the community aspect of harassment by encouraging community members to take a proactive stance through initiatives like organizing discussions, and reporting incidents. It also involves creating a collective commitment to combat harassment by raising awareness, empowering people to report incidents, and ensuring that the community understands the damaging effects on well-being, morale, and performance. My Music video will try reinforce stereotypes Conversely, It will try challenge stereotypes by subverting these normal things through powerful female characters, portraying diverse gender expressions, and showing men in emotional or nurturing roles.

MEDIA AUDIENCES:

The target audience for my music video is young adults aged 16–25, a demographic that is socially aware, emotionally expressive, and heavily engaged in digital culture. Psychographically, they value equality, authenticity, and empowerment, often using media to connect with global movements and express personal identity. They are likely fans of artists such as Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Demi Lovato, who address real-life struggles and emotions. The video will appeal to them through powerful storytelling, emotional realism, and relatable visuals. According to Blumler and Katz’s Uses & Gratifications theory, it offers personal identity, emotional release, and social interaction—encouraging empathy, reflection, and activism.
